Kiss Your Spider Veins Goodbye

Unsightly spider veins and varicose veins in the skin are extremely common. They can be caused by a number of factors including genetics, underlying vascular anomalies and UVR/sun damage. There are medical and cosmetic reasons for vein removal. The good news is that the process is now far easier and less painful than it used to be.

There are 2 methods offered for reducing veins, sclerotherapy and laser vein reduction protocols.

We do complete ultrasound imaging of the veins of the legs to identify any underlying causes for abnormal veins visible to the naked eye. These causes need to be managed and treated first before focusing on the veins that sparked concern. We use sclerotherapy, injecting a chemical sclerosing agent, into most leg veins. It’s relatively painless. For vessels too small for a needle (less than 0.2mm) we normally opt for laser treatment. A laser is always used for the facial veins. Either way, several sessions are usually required.

HOW IT WORKS
Using our Lumines IPL photo facial, the laser is gently placed over the affected area while directing mild pulses of light energy. The blood within the vein coagulates, the vessel is destroyed and the blood flow is redirected by other veins. Expect to see the vein turn red immediately following treatment and allow the body to reabsorb the vein slowly over 4 weeks. Depending on the size of the vessel, you’ll require one to four visits, up to six weeks apart. Each appointment lasts between 15 minutes and an hour.
